Some information about the small community I'm working on for post-shutdown era : 

 

Name : BPU for Breaking Point Unlocked

Launch date : August if final mod files are available.

When the BP shutdown was announced a few weeks ago, I worked with some players to build a new community; something smaller and more specialized, to not let the mod disappear.

 

Our project is called Breaking Point Unlocked (BPU). We want to take only the best of what BP mods have done and “unlock” it to its full potential.

 

We are all BP “veterans” with several hundred or thousands of hours in-game. We’ve played on all the maps with different teams and we’ve spent a lot of time learning all the features BP has to offer.

 

Our project can be simplified by 3 equally important concepts :

 

-Premium gameplay (serious maps, good server specs)

-Active administration. Neutral, experienced in the game and thorough. Also with transparency (activity log).

-Engagement of new players (engagement, helpdesk, wiki, tutorials). We don't rely only on current player-base. 

 

That’s why we have made some specific choices:

 

-A few servers (2 max) in order to not dilute player pop, limit costs, simplify administration (no hoping abuses).

-Only 2 maps : Stratis for training, short-term gameplay / Altis for long-term, real BP gameplay with some improvements.

-EU 3PP servers, dedicated (no “slot” limitations, no VPS), high quality, hosted in France. Similar to current EU BP servers hosted by online.net in FR.

-Max pop per server probably similar than current one.

-Some Events, like 1PP weekends and more to come…

-Some changes, adjustments like “no fog”, a little more resistant havens (no more one-shot truck), more reliable havens (priority for debug).

-Financial support partially relying on donations for first months, 100% donations after that. Our costs are very limited (<100€ per mo). We're transparent about founding, it's a non-profit community.

-Our team is not "multigaming", we’re only interested by BP mod, our administration will be done only by trusted volunteers passionate about this game, knowing what players can really do (bye bye duping, specific exploits) and ensuring game experience will be fair for all (newcomers especially).

 

Our map choice will satisfy some people here (mostly veterans) and dissatisfy others too (mostly ex Day-Z players and recent inexperienced players). That’s something we’re completely sure about and it will not change. I can talk more about this choice if anyone is interested, especially about BP Chernarus (which is not the amazing 0.62 Chernarus+), a map I know quite well (2nd most played), including all its ridiculous aspects (bullet-proof pines, havens unstable, unfinished structures easy to exploit and so on…). 

 

We're considering also Malden for later (looks good).

I am hyped about this i never really got to experience the full BP Mod i joined a couple weeks ago and the server i was mainly on was Chernobyl. I never really enjoyed it most of the action was at the bottom of the map up north it was empty so i hope this will make it feel more open world not just a section of the map that has all the population.

I would really hope for a 1pp only Altis as well, but seeing as this is a community run thing, I understand why it's 3pp. I'll be sure to jump in for any 1pp only events/weekends though.

If both 3PP servers are full on a regular basis and enough people are motivated, I will definately find a way to open 1PP servers as well.

I love 1PP too, no more 3rd cam "exploits" changes really everything.

That's great news. Expect me to get in there as soon as its up!
small question though.

What is going to be the ping limit if any? Is it going to be the same as the current servers in order for us in the Far East to be able to join?

Also, my guess is that the progression will be reset right?
Will the clan system be still in place?

- Ping limit : too early to know but as close as possible to the current servers. We don't want to exclude people far away.

- Progression reset : yes. fresh start for all. 

- Legion system : it depends if current launcher will be fixed or not, or if another method will be found for auto-grouping. I hope the community will be smart enough to share any correction / debug for all.

Also +1 for 1PP servers *only* I only ever play 1st person and it's a distinct disadvantage.

I had a look at the code and I could not find the launcher files. (anyone correct me if I am blind)

As soon as they are out, I will try my best to fix the thing.

i was just informed about this BPU being put together by someone in a facebook group. looking forward to it taking off! any idea on an eta? i know things take time but damn i've been craving some full server BP action

That looks like the login mechanism for the BP client in ARMA.

I will have a look when the next rollout of the code comes.

 

Morphine, I was thinking, since Hostile Takeover is going to host some servers as well with Hive and all, Maybe you could talk with them in order to have common hive and stats between the two of you.

I think it would be good to share the progress with as many servers as possible provided there is the same version of BP running on them of course.
